Hello everyone. I used to have a blog entry on this page detailing an embarrassing instance when I hit reply to an email instead of forward. It was in reference to an invitation I received to attend a gallery exhibition on an art form known as lumetype. Even though this post was written over 2 years ago, I was told it was coming up quite high on google searches for lumetype. Aack!
Unfortunately, my little exercise in freedom of speech has been causing problems for the particular gallery and was hurtful to the artist who invented the process to boot. As we all know, art is subjective, and I was simply stating my opinion in a dramatic and exaggerated way for some laughs from the 2 or so people who even bothered to read the blog. I guess the lesson is that the old “sticks and stones” analogy can apply to many things, but there are times when words can hurt, can cause damage. And for that, I apologize. The entry was in no way a critique on the art form. It’s a very unique and inventive process, and the images it produces are gorgeous. So for those of you who are interested in the art form, either as a purchaser or practitioner, go for it! The more beautiful and thought-provoking things we can give the world, the better.
